Courage Ceremony Reminder...
5th Grade Ceremony, May 15th 9:00 am
4th Grade Ceremony, May 16th 9:00 am
Both ceremonies will be in our trailer.
**This is our last Target class. The children have asked to do an arts and crafts project...so I'm thinking. :) We will have finger foods for the ceremony, but children can bring a lunchbag filled with their favorite munchies and a canned drink to enjoy during the afternoon.
Reminder: 5th Grade Target will meet on THURSDAY (5/10) of this week. 4th grade Target will meet on FRIDAY(5/11) of this week. 4th grade will be dissecting shark after specials starting at about 9:50. Both classes need to bring any and all materials for their magazine products as we will be wrapping up publishing this week and next week.
**If you have not returned your movie permission slip please do so THIS WEEK. Our last Target day is next week. You may bring a lunchbag filled with your favorite munchies and a canned drink. We will be sharing our magazines and watching a film.
First Grade! Just a reminder that Monday will be our last Target day together. If you haven't brought in your white teeshirt, you will want to do that! We will be making our "Multiple Intelligence" teeshirts on Monday. :)

Thank you for the recent flexibility regarding our Courage and Monument ceremony. Fifth grade needed more time and fourth grade was facing a conflict with Rocket Reader. I did hear a collective sigh of relief when the children knew they'd have more time to work.
Here's the scoop:

This will also be our last Target class for the school year. :(
What a gorgeous day today! First grade was really on the ball today with new tasks that allowed us to show perseverance. We talked about NOT giving up even if something is difficult. We used Versatiles, a learning tool, to help us with logical thinking today. It was a challenge and I am SO proud of the kiddoes that stuck with the problems and didn't give up. Andrew received my first "On the Ball" award for really persevering and on his first "flip" of the tiles was correct with his solution. Super job!
On a more frustrating note? First Grade really needs to work on listening skills. We know this is a good lifelong habit to have. Sometimes we are quick to jump into something without listening. Sometimes we end up separated from the class because we didn't listen. And sometimes? We do things incorrectly because we didn't listen.
We will continue to work on our good listening skills so we can be successful with our thinking!
Today's Multiple Intelligences focused on "Picture Smart" and "Music Smart." After last week's "Math Smart" and "Word Smart" tasks the kiddoes seemed to like BOTH of these tasks. We are still finishing up songs to share next week. The children asked if they could work on them at home and I said YES! Please let them finish their song for homework. It does not have to be edited or changed one bit. They are so excited to share songs of love and friendship..it's quite delightful!!! I told them that if I were in first grade, I would find writing a song VERY difficult but as I type this, you can hear the chorus of songs being written and practiced. I might have some risk takers that will let me video tape them singing their songs next week!

Students will be receiving their report cards with their regular classroom report cards. Because students were not in the Target classroom for a full six weeks, I opted to focus on the comments section of the report card. The next nine weeks will be more reflective of the thinking process. Be looking for that to come. :)
