Students worked diligently on their Ancient Greece presentations on March 15th and 16th. The students need to finish any work they did not complete in class. This presentation is a warm-up for the final independent project. I hope it will be a learning experience and practice for all of them. They should be practicing their scripts; rehearsing with a friend or family member.
Students were told to "become experts" on their topics last week. Today we discussed: Can you be an expert if you only know 10 facts about the topic? Some of the students spent a bit of time on the Internet adding to their facts. They may need to add a little more at home.
We had a discussion on "creative use of materials." Some students really understood this and brought in toilet paper rolls, boxes, plastic containers, Qtips, sponges... Students need to think about household items that can be used in different ways to create something new. It is like our transformations or droodles. Next time we do a creative activity, students need to try to be "flexible" in their thinking. They should be asking to dig through your junk drawer, look in closets, or raid the recycle bin.
Students are enjoying the process of this project. I am looking forward to their presentations next week. I will give them 30 minutes at the beginning of class to meet and share any additions they may have made to the script.
